Days after an audio recording of a conversation allegedly involving Daniel Padilla referring to an unidentified girl’s text message to him as something that made his rear end giggle, Jasmine Curtis-Smith addressed the issue and said she did not assume that she was the girl being referred to. “When I heard the audio, I didn’t assume it was me. I didn’t hear it properly, it was very muffled…Ayoko din naman mag-assume…I saw everything as friendship, friendship lang naman ang na-insinuate ko,” Jasmine said in an ABS-CBN News report last Monday. By friendship, the young actress was referring to the SMS exchanges between her and Daniel, her co-star in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Bonifacio, Ang Unang Pangulo”. Jasmine admitted that she and Daniel did exchange text messages but the only thing they talked about was her father who had recently undergone surgery. The actress was also quoted as saying that she had no intention of ruining the popular love team of Daniel and rumored girlfriend Kathryn Bernardo as fans of both started to bash her on social media shortly after the controversial recording went viral. She likewise revealed that she and rumored boyfriend Sam Concepcion—widely believed to be the one Daniel made fun of in the same recording—had talked about the issue and that everything was okay between them. The two are currently co-starring on TV5’s daily primetime mini-series, “Wattpad Presents”. While the young heartthrob was initially defiant about the issue and even challenged his detractors to come up with a better stunt to bring him down, he later admitted in an interview with the talk show “Aquino & Abunda” that it was indeed him in the audio recording, where he also talked about a smelly guy wearing a Guns & Roses t-shirt and a leather jacket that not a few thought was Sam. Taking full responsibility for everything that had happened, Daniel added in the same interview that he had already apologized to Kathryn about the recording and was glad that she had forgiven him. He said he was also thankful to the fans of their “Kathniel” love team as well as his own for remaining supportive of him throughout this episode. Daniel, however, did not identify the two people he was talking about in the audio recording, whom many believed to be Jasmine and Sam.
